A football agent reveals that Barcelona turned down a world-record bid for Lamine Yamal in the recent summer transfer window.

Football agent Andy Bara has revealed that Barcelona rejected a world-record bid from Paris Saint-Germain for Lamine Yamal.

Yamal has gone on to establish himself as one of Europe's brightest talents since making his La Liga bow as a 15-year-old in April 2023.

Last season, the 17-year-old made 50 appearances in all competitions, scoring seven goals and providing nine assists.

Yamal went on to play a key part in Spain's Euro 2024 triumph, scoring one goal and contributing four assists in seven matches in Germany.

Having showcased his talent at club and international level, Yamal's performances seemingly caught the attention of French champions PSG.

Yamal's agent confirms world-record bid

Bara, who represents the likes of Dani Olmo and Nacho Fernandez, has claimed that PSG made a world-record €250m (£211m) bid for Yamal in the recent summer transfer window.

The football agent said that Barcelona swiftly rejected the offer, with the Blaugrana unwilling to part ways with one of their most prized assets.

Bara told Podcast Inkubator: "One thing I know for sure is that Barcelona did reject a big offer for Lamine Yamal from PSG some months ago. The deal was worth somewhere around €250m (£211m)."

PSG were seemingly keen to recruit Yamal as a replacement for Kylian Mbappe, who left the club for Real Madrid in the summer.

Yamal is key for Barcelona's present and future

The Barcelona academy product may have only turned 17 in July, but he is already an integral part of the first-team squad.

Barcelona will view Yamal as a player who can create a legacy at the club due to his undoubted talent and his potential to develop into an even greater player.

The winger has enjoyed an impressive start to the 2024-25 season, scoring one goal and providing four assists across Barcelona's opening four matches.

Yamal will ultimately be key if Barcelona are to claim silverware this season after experiencing a trophyless 2023-24 campaign.
