Barcelona have confirmed that manager Tito Vilanova will return to Spain following a stint of cancer treatment in New York.

The 44-year-old has been in the United States for the last two months for treatment following an operation to remove a tumour from his throat in December.

The Spanish giants released a statement, which said: "Tito Vilanova will this week leave the city of skyscrapers to return to the Catalan capital."

The club have not confirmed whether Vilanova will return to work with the Barca team.
