Barcelona defender Carlos Puyol will miss the next eight weeks of the season with a dislocated elbow.

Barcelona defender Carlos Puyol will be out for eight weeks after dislocating his left elbow in the club's 2-0 Champions League win over Benfica.

The 34-year-old, who had just returned from a muscular injury, was taken to hospital after falling heavily on his arm in the 78th minute of the clash in Portugal.

He had already been ruled out of Sunday's clash with Real Madrid, but the club now expect the Spaniard to miss the next two months of the campaign.

Puyol has made just four appearances for the club this season.
