Antonin Panenka, father of the 'Panenka', has said that Lionel Messi's effort was the best version of the penalty that he has ever seen.
The Argentine cleverly chipped home his spot kick to open the scoring in Tuesday's 6-0 demolition of Getafe, and the 66-year-old, who famously clinched Euro '76 for Czechoslovakia in the same fashion, has given his nod of approval for Messi's execution.
"The execution was the best I've ever seen - not too powerful, central, good elevation," he told radio station RAC1. "Technically the goal was impressive. It is a further demonstration of [Messi's] quality."
Messi went on to score again to bring his total for the season to 51 in all competitions.
