Gerardo Martino wants Neymar protection

Barcelona coach Gerard Martino wants referees to offer Neymar more protection during games.

Barcelona coach Gerardo Martino has called for referees to offer Neymar more protection during games.

The Argentine coach was unhappy with some of the challenges made on the Brazilian during Saturday's 0-0 draw away to Osasuna.

"The referee again allowed defenders to kick Neymar unpunished, sometimes they should pay more attention, especially without the ball," Martino told reporters after the game.

"We normally win such games with the chances we create. I am happy with the performance. We deserved to win and I am calm.

"At some point, Xavi and Andres Iniesta have to recharge from their minutes with Spain. I made the decision to let Lionel Messi play 20 minutes to find his rhythm for the next fixtures."

Despite losing their 100% record, Martino's side are still top of La Liga.
