Enrique Cerezo reveals title delight

Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo reveals his delight following his side's La Liga title success on Saturday.

Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo has revealed his delight after his side claimed their first La Liga title since 1996 on Saturday.

A 1-1 draw at Barcelona was enough for the capital outfit to claim the trophy, with Cerezo praising the "union" that has been created at the club.

"We have a league where they always say that the fair one wins, I was very calm when Barcelona scored their first goal but the final 10 minutes I had my doubts, it was a beautiful game, with emotion, with a good result," Inside Spanish Football quotes Cerezo as saying.

"The union with this team is all inclusive, fans, directors, players... we have a team that will be remembered for all of eternity.

"This win is as, or more important than the won in '96, it's been a long time since we won La Liga."

Atletico face Real Madrid in the Champions League final next weekend.
