Half-Time Report: Barcelona being held by Elche

Barcelona are being held at half time in their La Liga match against Elche.

Barcelona were unable to break the deadlock in the first half of their La Liga match against Elche as they look to keep the title race alive this evening, heading into half time goalless.

Needing a win to catch league leaders Atletico Madrid, Lionel Messi had the first chance of the match just six minutes after kickoff, but the tight angle proved too much for the Argentine.

Elche weathered an early spell from the visitors to create a good chance themselves, but Domingo Cisma's effort from close range from blocked.

Andres Iniesta forced a save down the other end just moments later with a volleyed effort from the edge of the box, but Manuel Yague managed to keep it out.

The visitors continued to look the more likely as half time approached, with Messi seeing a shot blocked on the line, before Pedro headed just wide.

If Barcelona do not win today, Atletico can clinch the title with victory over Malaga.
