How Barcelona could line up against Lyon

Sports Mole looks at how Barcelona could line up in Tuesday's Champions League clash with Lyon.

Barcelona will travel to Lyon on Tuesday night for the first leg of their last-16 Champions League tie.

The Groupama Stadium will host the first leg of the knockout-round fixture this week, before the two teams meet at Camp Nou in the return match on March 13.

Ernesto Valverde's side only scraped past Real Valladolid in La Liga on Saturday night, but they are now seven points clear at the top of the table.

This is the 15th straight year that the Spanish giants have made the knockout round of the Champions League, but they have not won the competition since 2015.

Here, Sports Mole takes a look at how Barcelona could line up in France on Tuesday night.

POSS BAR XI vs. SEV

Out: Rafinha (knee), Jasper Cillessen (muscle), Arthur (hamstring), Thomas Vermaelen (calf)
Doubtful: Samuel Umtiti (knee)

Thomas Vermaelen is unavailable for Barcelona after picking up a calf problem against Valladolid, with the Belgian joining Rafinha, Jasper Cillessen and Arthur on the sidelines.

Samuel Umtiti is back in training following a long-term knee problem, but it seems unlikely that the Frenchman will be thrown straight in against his former club following a period out.

Luis Suarez, Ivan Rakitic and Clement Lenglet will all return after being left out of the XI against Valladolid, while Nelson Semedo could edge out Sergi Roberto to start at right-back due to his superior defensive skills.

Philippe Coutinho is expected to be left on the bench once again, meanwhile, with Ousmane Dembele chosen to start alongside Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez in the final third of the field.

Messi scored his 30th goal of the season in the weekend win over Valladolid, with six of those coming in four Champions League appearances.
