Wolverhampton Wanderers are on the verge of completing a permanent deal for Atletico Madrid's Jonny Castro, according to a report.

Wolverhampton Wanderers are reportedly on the verge of completing a permanent deal for Atletico Madrid defender Jonny Castro.

Jonny joined Wolves on a season-long loan from Atletico last summer and the 24-year-old has been in impressive form for the English club, making 21 appearances in all competitions.

Atletico boss Diego Simeone had reportedly been keen to use Jonny next season, but financial pressures have changed the situation.

According to AS, Wolves are now nearing the permanent signing of Jonny, who only joined Atletico from Celta Vigo last summer and has not made a single appearance for the capital club.

Jonny won the first of his three Spain caps last October.
