Atletico Madrid move level on points with Barcelona after win at Eibar

Atletico Madrid move level on points with Barceona in La Liga with a comfortable 3-1 win over Eibar.

Atletico Madrid have kept the pressure on Real Madrid and Barcelona at the top of La Liga with an impressive 3-1 victory at Eibar this evening.

Antoine Griezmann put the visitors into an early lead as he controlled Raul Garcia's through ball before slotting the ball into the back of the net in the seventh minute.

Griezmann then turned provider as he swung over a cross for Mario Mandzukic, who prodded home a clever finish to double Atleti's lead.

Just three minutes after getting on the scoresheet, Mandzukic doubled his tally as he took advantage of some poor defending before rifling a powerful drive into the corner from the edge of the box.

Eibar almost pulled a goal back the stroke of half time, but Miguel Moya denied Manu Del Moral from point-blank range to preserve his clean sheet.

With a three-goal lead, Atletico were happy to defend for large parts of the second half and Eibar were unable to forge any clear-cut openings until the 89th minute when Saul Berjon prodded home from close range to net a consolation goal for his side.
