Aston Villa name Kevin MacDonald as assistant manager to Tim Sherwood

Aston Villa announce that Kevin MacDonald has returned to the club as Tim Sherwood's assistant manager.

Aston Villa have announced that Kevin MacDonald has returned to the Premier League club as Tim Sherwood's assistant manager.

The 54-year-old previously worked as the club's assistant coach from 2003 to 2012, and acted as caretaker manager for a spell in 2010.

Villa have confirmed via the club's official website that MacDonald will join the set-up with immediate effect following Sherwood's appointment last week.

On Thursday, Mark Robson and Seamus Brady were named as part of Sherwood's backroom staff.
