Martin Laursen says that it would be a dream to manage Aston Villa in the future but admits that the opportunity has come round too soon this time.

Ex-Aston Villa defender Martin Laursen has played down talk of becoming the club's next manager.

The 34-year-old is currently taking his coaching badges after being forced to cut short his playing career in 2009 due to persistent knee injury

The ex-Denmark international believes that the opportunity has come too soon for him but admitted that it would be a "dream" to manage the club in the future.

"That is flattering but it is too soon for me, I'm afraid," The Sun quotes Laursen as saying. "I'm taking my coaching badges in Denmark and coaching at Sollerod to get some experience.

"It is going well but to manage Villa is too early. In the future, that would be a dream for me. Fans know how much I love Villa, a great club."

Laursen arrived at Villa Park from AC Milan in 2004.
