Aston Villa boss Paul Lambert admits that he "can't wait" for his first Midlands derby ahead of Sunday's visit of West Brom.

Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert has admitted that he "can't wait" for his first Midlands derby ahead of Sunday's encounter with West Bromwich Albion.

Villa go into the match on home turf looking for their first victory over the Baggies since December 2010 and Lambert insists that his players will go all out to claim the three points.

"I can't wait. I know how important it is for fans - any derby game. They are vital," the Scot told reporters.

"When it's your own derby in your own backyard you definitely want to win it. I know how important it is for the fans to get one over on their rivals. We will go and try to win."

Villa go into the match in 14th place in the Premier League table, while West Brom currently sit fourth.
