Alan Hutton: "Unbelievable" Aston Villa supporters can spur us on to victory

Aston Villa defender Alan Hutton says that supporters can give the side "a real lift" this weekend against Manchester United by backing the players from the off.

Alan Hutton has called on Aston Villa supporters to get behind the team once more this weekend in order to instigate a victory against Manchester United.

Villa saw their five-match unbeaten run come to an end at the hands of West Bromwich Albion last weekend, succumbing to a 1-0 defeat at The Hawthorns to drop down to 14th place in the Premier League table.

Next up for Villa is the visit of an in-form United side, who travel to the West Midlands on the back of a six-game winning streak.

"There's big expectations when we play at home," the Birmingham Mail quotes Hutton as saying. "No-one wants to turn up and play bad, it's been difficult the last few seasons and I understand the frustrations.

"Again, we're working to try and fix that and be positive. The fans have been loyal, unbelievable. They pack out grounds away from home all the time, I look back at Burnley and Palace recently and remember that they've been brilliant.

"They can help you so much. People don't realise that. If they're behind you it's like having an other man on the pitch, it gives the players a real lift."

Hutton will miss this weekend's game through suspension having picked up five yellow cards already this term.
