Dwight Yorke: 'I want the Aston Villa job'

Former Aston Villa striker Dwight Yorke tells beIN Sports that he wants to manage the West Midlands club following Tim Sherwood's dismissal.

Former Aston Villa striker Dwight Yorke has thrown his name in the hat for the West Midlands club's managerial vacancy following the dismissal of Tim Sherwood.

The retired Trinidad and Tobago international spent nine years at Villa Park, making 232 league appearances and scoring 73 goals between 1989 and 1998 before moving to Manchester United.

He told beIN Sports: "I want the Villa job. I've worked for some top guys and that club means a lot to me. I'd like to give it a go."

The 43-year-old has completed his Level B coaching badge, and was one of Ricky Sbragia's assistants at Sunderland during the 2008-09 season.
