Aston Villa: Scott Marshall talks up Tim Sherwood's half-time impact

Scott Marshall praises the half-time impact of new manager Tim Sherwood during Aston Villa's FA Cup fifth-round victory over Leicester City.

Scott Marshall has praised the impact of Tim Sherwood at half time during Aston Villa's FA Cup fifth-round victory over Leicester City this afternoon.

New Villa boss Sherwood watched his team from the stands as caretaker manager Marshall directed the team from the dugout.

After failing to score in the first half for an 11th game in a row, Sherwood went down to the dressing room to give the players a pep talk and they went on to win 2-1.

"Tim came in and made a couple of points for the lads - a couple of bits and pieces for everyone really," Marshall told the club website. "I thought the lads delivered that in the second half and were very good.

"He was there and gave some good information to the group. There's a football knowledge there that comes with experience, a lifetime in the game.

"I put across my points for the game and what I thought and what I saw. Then Tim had some input after that."

Sherwood will hope to end Villa's five-game Premier League losing streak in his first official game in charge of the club, at home to Stoke City on Saturday.
