Joseph Yobo surprised by reports of Arsenal interest

Former Everton and Norwich City defender Joseph Yobo has dismissed the rumours linking him with a move to Arsenal in the near future.

Reports last week suggested that Arsene Wenger was considering signing the 34-year-old free agent to add defensive options to his squad, but Yobo claims that he has not been contacted by the Gunners.

"I read Arsenal was interested in me, it was news to me," the Nigerian told reporters. "There is no formal contact with anybody.

"If negotiations are taking place, I am not aware, maybe the club is speaking with my agent."

Yobo was released by Fenerbahce in the summer.
