Brendan Rodgers expects Leicester City to reject offers for their "best players" as James Maddison continues to be linked with a switch to Arsenal.

Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers has seemingly made it clear that Arsenal-linked James Maddison will not be leaving the club this summer.

With the Gunners seeking alternatives to Martin Odegaard in the number 10 role, Maddison has supposedly been identified as a leading target for Mikel Arteta.

Leicester are understood to have slapped a £70m price tag on the head of the 24-year-old, but Rodgers has affirmed that the Foxes are not prepared to entertain offers for key members of the squad.

Speaking to reporters, Rodgers said: "In conversations with the club, we don't have to sell. That's something that's been made clear.

"The players want to stay. It's a really exciting time at the club. There's lots of gossip and speculation around but I'm loving working with the guys here, they love being here, and we certainly have no need to sell. So I would suspect we're looking to keep our best players."

Maddison ended the 2020-21 season with 11 goals and 10 assists to his name from 42 games in all competitions, and the playmaker also scooped an FA Cup winners' medal - the first major trophy of his career.
