Report: Liverpool want Alvaro Arbeloa return

A report claims that Liverpool want to bring Real Madrid defender Alvaro Arbeloa back to Anfield.

Liverpool are reportedly preparing a January move for former defender Alvaro Arbeloa, who is said to be keen on a move away from Real Madrid.

The Spaniard represented Liverpool between 2006 and 2009 before joining Real Madrid, where he has made more than 200 appearances.

However, the 31-year-old has been forced to play a bit-part role at the Bernabeu over the last couple of seasons.

According to The Express, Liverpool lead the race for their former full-back, but Arsenal and Chelsea are both said to be monitoring proceedings.

Arbeloa gained 56 caps for Spain before retiring from international duty in 2013.
