Report: Arsenal join race for highly-rated Joe Gomez

Arsenal reportedly join Everton and Newcastle United in the race to sign 17-year-old Charlton defender Joe Gomez.

Arsenal have joined the race to sign highly-rated Charlton Athletic defender Joe Gomez, according to reports.

The 17-year-old has emerged as one of the Championship's brightest prospects after making 17 first-team appearances for the Addicks this season.

Newcastle United and Everton are among those linked with summer moves but Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is also keen, according to The Metro.

Gomez's contract at The Valley expires in 2017 after the youngster was given a three-year extension back in October.
