Report: Real Madrid coach Paul Clement earmarked as Arsene Wenger successor

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger will handpick Real Madrid coach Paul Clement to take over at the Emirates Stadium when he retires, according to reports.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is to select Real Madrid coach Paul Clement to take over at the Emirates Stadium when he retires, according to reports.

The Gunners boss, who joined the London outfit back in 1996, has won a multitude of trophies at the club and become their longest-serving manager in the process.

According to the Daily Star, Wenger will handpick his replacement prior to retirement and has identified the highly-rated Englishman as a contender.

The same source also claims that the 65-year-old will take on a directorial role after he calls time on his managerial career.

Clement, 42, joined Paris Saint-Germain in 2012 to work under Carlo Ancelotti, before moving with him to the Bernabeu a year later.
