Former Arsenal attacker Robert Pires has called on the Gunners to make a move for Southampton midfielder Victor Wanyama.
The capital outfit are expected to be in the market for a new central midfielder in January following the recent injury to Francis Coquelin.
Pires has said that Wanynama needs to add more goals to his game in order to become a "world-class" player, but has picked the 24-year-old as a perfect signing for Arsene Wenger.
"I know Wanyama. He is a very good ambassador of Kenyan football and has done well in Southampton but I hope he signs for Arsenal in the future," Pires told Kenyan journalists.
"He has the speed, skill and physique. However, I think he needs to score more goals because then he will be world-class material."
Kenyan international Wanyama was strongly linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur in the summer transfer window.
