Arsenal goalkeeper Bernd Leno could reportedly join Newcastle United on loan for rest of the season.

Arsenal goalkeeper Bernd Leno could reportedly join relegation-threatened Newcastle United on loan for the second half of the 2021-22 campaign.

The Germany international has lost his starting role at the Emirates Stadium to Aaron Ramsdale, with the stopper not featuring in the Premier League since the 5-0 loss to Manchester City at the end of August.

Leno is believed to be looking for a way out of the club this month, and Inter Milan have previously been credited with an interest in a player who has entered the final 18 months of his contract with the Gunners.

However, according to ESPN, Newcastle are also in the hunt for his services, with the Magpies keen to boost their squad as they battle against the drop.

Leno - capped on nine occasions by Germany - has conceded 11 times in his seven appearances for Mikel Arteta's side during the 2021-22 campaign, keeping just two clean sheets in the process.

The 29-year-old's exit could allegedly open the door for Arsenal to sign New England Revolution goalkeeper Matt Turner.
