Liverpool enter Javi Manquillo race?

A report claims that Liverpool want to sign Atletico Madrid right-back Javier Manquillo on a season-long loan.

Liverpool have reportedly joined Arsenal in the race to sign Atletico Madrid right-back Javier Manquillo on a season-long loan.

The Spaniard is highly-rated in the Spanish capital, but it is understood that Atletico boss Diego Simeone wants to send the defender on loan for the 2014-15 campaign.

Arsenal had been the favourites to sign the 20-year-old, but according to AS, Liverpool have expressed an interest.

It is understood that any deal will not include a future purchase option, with Atletico unprepared to lose Manquillo's services on a permanent basis.
