Hamburger SV enter Johan Djourou race

Reports suggest that Hamburger SV will rival Hannover for Arsenal defender Johan Djourou.

Hamburger SV have reportedly entered the running to sign Arsenal defender Johan Djourou.

The 26-year-old, who spent last season on loan at Hannover, is no longer believed to be a part of Arsene Wenger's plans at the Emirates Stadium and is likely to be among those sold this summer.

According to talkSPORT, Rothosen are prepared to make a bid for the Swiss international, who still has two years left on his contract, but Hannover are also believed to be keen to keep him.

Djourou arrived in North London from Etoile Carouge as a youth player before making his debut in a 3-1 League Cup victory over Everton in 2004.

He has 40 caps for his country.
