Everton make shock £30m bid for Alex Iwobi?

Everton reportedly make a shock £30m bid for midfielder Alex Iwobi after seeing their initial bid rejected by Arsenal.

Everton have reportedly launched a shock £30m bid for the transfer of midfielder Alex Iwobi after the club's opening offer was rejected by Arsenal.

The Toffees initially produced a £25m bid for Iwobi, who made 51 appearances in all appearances under Unai Emery last season, but this proposal was turned down.

Everton have switched their focus onto signing the Nigeria international after failing in their pursuit of Crystal Palace talisman Wilfried Zaha.

According to the Daily Mail, Marco Silva's side will return with an improved bid of £30m ahead of Thursday's transfer deadline.

Iwobi, who came through the Arsenal academy, signed a four-year contract with the Gunners in the summer of last year.

Everton have already added to their midfield in this transfer window, completing deals for Andre Gomes and Fabian Delph.
