Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich will reportedly let defender Jerome Boateng leave the club on a free transfer this summer.

The 32-year-old, who has been linked with a move to Arsenal and Chelsea, will see his current contract expire at the end of this season.

According to German news outlet Kicker, Bayern have told Boateng that he can leave the club in June, with no new contract set to be offered.

The defender has been a pivotal player for Hansi Flick's side this campaign, making 30 appearances in all competitions for the German giants, who have charged to the top of the Bundesliga table and have also reached the quarter-finals of the Champions League.

Bayern have already agreed to sign RB Leipzig centre-back Dayot Upamecano, who will join the club in July for around £38.5m, but they are also set to lose David Alaba for free when his contract expires in June.

Since joining from Manchester City a decade ago, Boateng has made more the 350 appearances for his current side, winning eight Bundesliga titles.
