Real Betis, Barcelona to share signing of Atletico Mineiro defender Emerson?

Atletico Mineiro defender Emerson is reportedly due to sign for Real Betis, with Barcelona acquiring the rights to have first option on the player in the future.

Real Betis and Barcelona have both reportedly won the race to sign in-demand Atletico Mineiro defender Emerson.

Arsenal and Liverpool were said to be among as many as 14 clubs who have been monitoring the progress of the 20-year-old in Brazil.

However, according to Marca, a deal has been reached where the full-back will sign for Real Betis and have the opportunity to link up with Barcelona at a later date.

The report claims that Emerson will be used as backup at Betis during the second half of this season, but Barcelona are paying part of the transfer fee to gain first option on the player in the future.

The youngster has made 25 appearances for Atletico Mineiro in Brazil's top flight.
