Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta hints that his club will not be making any signings in the latter stages of the January transfer window.

Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta has suggested that his club will not be making any signings in the latter stages of the January transfer window.

The Gunners bounced back from three straight losses in impressive fashion on Saturday afternoon, recording a 5-0 victory over Crystal Palace at the Emirates Stadium to move into third spot in the Premier League table.

Arsenal are only two points off division leaders Liverpool, but it has been claimed that their lack of an elite striker could cost them the chance to win the trophy.

The North London club outfit have been heavily linked with Brentford's Ivan Toney, who scored on his return to football on Saturday against Nottingham Forest following a lengthy absence.

Bologna's Joshua Zirkzee and Napoli's Victor Osimhen are also among the forwards to be linked with moves to the Emirates Stadium.

However, Arteta suggested that Arsenal will go with what they have for the remainder of the season when asked whether his side could finish above the likes of Liverpool and Manchester City to win the title this term.

"We will try our best. We need to make sure our players feel trusted and have the confidence. If they are doubting that is not helpful. We love the players we have," Arteta told reporters.

Bukayo Saka is Arsenal's top goalscorer in all competitions this season with nine, but Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah have only managed seven and six respectively in 2023-24.

Gabriel Martinelli scored a brace against Palace on Saturday to move onto six goals for the campaign, and Arteta was full of praise for the Brazilian after the clash.

"I think that is going to make him really good. Sometimes when you are in that period, and he had a little issue in the last few days in training so he wasn't fully, fully fit, that changes momentum, it changes perception, it re-energises you. It's everything," the Arsenal boss said when asked about the attacker.

Leandro Trossard also registered on Saturday, with the 29-year-old now the team's second leading goalscorer in all competitions this season with seven.

"The whole action, reading the space, the behaviour of the front players to open them up and then the individual action of Gabby [Gabriel Jesus] to play the ball at the right time and right pace in front of the defender and Leo, it's what Leo does," Arteta added after the clash with the Eagles.

"He's so composed in the box, the closer he gets to the goal, the calmer he is and I think the decision-making and execution was top."

Arsenal will be aiming to make it back-to-back wins in the Premier League when they head to Nottingham Forest on January 30.
