Arsenal could reignite their interest in Wolverhampton Wanderers attacker Pedro Neto in the January transfer window, according to a report.

Arsenal could reignite their interest in Wolverhampton Wanderers attacker Pedro Neto in the January transfer window, according to a report.

The Gunners spent in excess of £200m on four summer signings, with the statement addition of Declan Rice followed by the purchases of Kai Havertz and Jurrien Timber, while David Raya has joined on an initial loan deal from Brentford.

The addition of Havertz, who can play in both attack and midfield, has strengthened Arsenal's frontline which also includes Gabriel Jesus, Eddie Nketiah, Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli, Leandro Trossard and Reiss Nelson.

However, it is thought that head coach Mikel Arteta was open to the prospect of recruiting a new winger this summer to provide competition for star man Saka, who has started 84 consecutive league matches for the Gunners.

Arsenal, who will soon be juggling Champions League football with domestic duties, are believed to be long-term admirers of Wolves winger Neto, who has spent the last four years at Molineux.

According to The Telegraph, Arsenal enquired about the availability of Neto this summer after opting against pursuing the 23-year-old 12 months ago when he was valued in the region of £50m.

Although a summer move to the Emirates Stadium failed to bear fruit for Neto, a separate report from BirminghamLive claims that Wolves are braced for renewed interest from the North Londoners in the January transfer window.

Since joining Wolves from Braga in the summer of 2019, Neto has made a total of 115 appearances across all competitions, scoring 11 goals and registering 16 assists.

Neto has been hampered with injuries in the last two seasons, with an ankle problem reducing him to just 18 appearances in the 2022-23 Premier League campaign.

The three-cap Portugal international has since played the full 90 minutes in each of Wolves' opening four Premier League games in the new season and has provided three assists in his last two outings.

It is understood that Wolves boss Gary O'Neil is considering a winter-window exodus to help generate funds for a new striker and balance the books amid Financial Fair Play concerns, and Neto could be one player who departs if they receive a suitable offer.

The likes of captain Max Kilman, Jose Sa, Hugo Bueno, Rayan Ait-Nouri were all linked with possible departures from Molineux in the summer and could also be the subjects of interest from a number of clubs in January.

Neto, who is currently with the Portugal squad ahead of Euro 2024 qualifiers against Slovakia and Luxembourg this week, has a contract with Wolves until the summer of 2027.
