Arsenal to target Salomon Kalou if Julian Draxler bid fails?

Arsenal will make a move for Salomon Kalou if they fail to sign Julian Draxler, according to a report.

Arsenal will make an offer for Lille forward Salomon Kalou if they fail to sign Julian Draxler, according to a report.

The Daily Star claims that the Gunners are contemplating making a bid of £2.5m for the 28-year-old should they meet with failure in their attempt to recruit Schalke's 20-year-old attacker Draxler before the end of the January transfer window.

Reports in the British press have stated that Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has sent a delegate to Germany to negotiate a deal with the Bundesliga club before the window shuts on Friday.

However, it has now been reported that the Gunners have a backup option in Kalou, who left Chelsea in the summer of 2012 to join French club Lille.
