Borussia Monchengladbach's Havard Nordtveit is the latest midfielder to be linked with a January switch to Arsenal.
The 25-year-old Norwegian is being eyed by Arsene Wenger as he looks to bring in cover following injuries to several of his senior players in the middle of the park.
According to Sky Deutschland, the Gunners will face competition from Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich as well as Premier League rivals Leicester City and Everton in the race for Nodrtveit's signature next month.
Nordtveit was signed to Arsenal as a teenager but failed to make a single appearance for the senior side before leaving for Germany in 2010.
Other names rumoured to be on Wenger's wishlist include Sevilla's Grzegorz Krychowiak, Porto's Danilo, Coventry City teenager James Maddison and Southampton's Victor Wanyama.
Basel's Mohamed Elneny is thought to be undergoing a medical with the North London side after a fee of £5m was agreed for the Egyptian midfielder.
