Arsenal prepare to battle Borussia Dortmund, Juventus and Newcastle United for Real Valladolid defender Ivan Fresneda, according to a report.

Arsenal are reportedly set to battle Borussia Dortmund, Juventus and Newcastle United for the signature of Real Valladolid defender Ivan Fresneda this summer.

The 18-year-old was heavily linked with a move away from his La Liga club during the January window, but the market closed with the defender still at Estadio Jose Zorrilla.

There remains speculation surrounding the Spaniard's future, though, with his development this season believed to have attracted the attention of a host of clubs.

Arsenal are said to be huge admirers of the right-back, and according to the Evening Standard, the Gunners are expected to be in a four-way battle for his signature.

The report claims that Dortmund, Juventus and Newcastle are preparing to rival Mikel Arteta's side for the full-back, who has just over two years left to run on his current contract.

Fresneda will allegedly 'sit down with his representatives this summer' to determine his next move, with Real Valladolid expected to sell him even if they remain in La Liga.

There is believed to be a £26.5m release clause in his current deal, which the White and Violets could potentially hold out for considering the amount of clubs interested in his signature.

Fresneda spent time with Real Madrid's youth system before moving to Leganes, representing the club between 2018 and 2020 ahead of a switch to Real Valladolid.

The right-back made his debut for Pacheta's side last January, and he has featured on 12 occasions in Spain's top flight during the 2022-23 campaign, with 10 of those outings coming in La Liga.

Speaking during the January transfer window, Real Valladolid chief David Espinar said that there was "a lot of interest" in the teenager.

"No firm offer has arrived for Fresneda, but there is a lot of interest," Espinar told reporters.

"The club has set a squad cost limit in the summer. We are going to try to reinforce the squad and we are aware that there are players who will leave.

"We don't have to sell any player to survive, but, in the football industry, everyone has to do it. It serves to strengthen squads and gives opportunities to people who want to improve or seek another destination."

Fresneda has not started a league game for Real Valladolid since the middle of January, while he has been an unused substitute in the team's last three fixtures in Spain's top flight.
