Stoke City seal win against 10-man Arsenal

Stoke City seal a shock 3-2 win against 10-man Arsenal as they lift themselves up to 12th in the Premier League.

Stoke City have secured a shock 3-2 win against 10-man Arsenal in a dramatic game at the Britannia Stadium this afternoon as they lifted themselves up to 12th in the Premier League.

Peter Crouch, Bojan and Jonathan Walters had given the Potters a 3-0 lead going into half time before Santi Cazorla and Aaron Ramsey pulled two goals back for the London club.

The goals gave the away side hope but Calum Chambers was then sent off for a second bookable offence and Arsene Wenger eventually suffered his 200th defeat as Gunners manager.

There were 19 seconds on the clock when Crouch gave the Potters the lead by finishing from close range after Hector Bellerin failed to clear a ball into the box.

The striker's goal, his eighth against Arsenal, was the quickest scored in the Premier League this season and it was just reward for Stoke's good start as they penned the visitors back into their own half.

Alexis Sanchez broke away and linked up with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain as Arsenal began to assert themselves, but the Chilean was crowded out inside the box.

Arsenal found it increasingly difficult as the half wore on, with Bojan in particular proving to be a real menace for Stoke.

Cazorla tried his luck from long range, narrowly missing the target, before firing a free kick over moments later.

Their profligacy was punished by Bojan, who converted from close range to double his side's advantage.

Asmir Begovic then needed to be alert to tip over Olivier Giroud's header as Arsenal looked to get back into the game.

It was Stoke who went further in front, however, as Walters fired in to give the game a remarkable scoreline going into the break.

Arsenal came out in determined mood for the second half but Sanchez could only hit the post after beating two defenders and rounding Begovic, and his side's best chance to claw a swift goal back went begging.

A dramatic period in the game then saw Bojan's effort ruled out for offside before Cazorla scored from the penalty spot for Arsenal after Mathieu Flamini was tripped by Mame Biram Diouf inside the box.

Just two minutes later, Ramsey added a second for Arsenal by volleying home 15 yards from goal.

Their momentum was slowed by the red card shown to Chambers, who received a second yellow after a challenge on Bojan.

Despite some late chances Arsenal couldn't find an equalising goal, meaning that Stoke went home with the points.
