Arsenal 2-1 Malaysia XI

Youngsters Thomas Eisfeld and Chuks Aneke score late goals to hand Arsenal the victory from their friendly encounter against a Malaysian X1.

Young duo Thomas Eisfeld and Chuks Aneke found the net in the last three minutes to give Arsenal a 2-1 win from their pre-season friendly match against a Malaysia XI this afternoon.

The Gunners created the better of the chances during the opening 45 minutes, but they were unable to find a breakthrough.

Both Marouane Chamakh and Andre Santos had two chances apiece, but a combination of stubborn defending and wayward finishing meant Arsenal headed into the interval without a goal.

However, just as it looked as though the scores were going to be level at the midway point, Azmi Muslim beat young goalkeeper Vito Mannone from 30 yards in the 44th minute to give the Malaysian X1 the lead.

Manager Arsene Wenger attempted to alter his side's fortunes during the break by making wholesale changes to his lineup, including the introduction of England internationals Theo Walcott and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Another two substitutes, Benik Afobe and Ryo Miyaichi, linked for the former to go through on goal in the 54th minute. Afobe beat the goalkeeper, but his shot rebounded to safety off the post.

Arsenal continued to dominate possession, but the home side appeared to have done enough to claim a victory. However, with three minutes remaining Nico Yennaris cut the ball back for Thomas Eisfeld, who slotted the ball into net.

Deep into stoppage Wenger's team claimed the win when Chuks Aneke's strike from the edge of the area deflected into the net.
