Arsene Wenger confirms that Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere will return to action in the Gunners' reserve-team fixture against West Bromwich Albion on Monday.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has revealed that midfielder Jack Wilshere will return to the field for the first time in over a year next week.

The England international, who has been sidelined with a lengthy ankle injury, is due to feature in the Gunners' reserve-team match against West Bromwich Albion on Monday.

"Jack will play on Monday for the [Under-21s]," said Wenger. "He will play an hour. We have to be patient."

The Frenchman went on to say that it is "too early" for Wilshere to be considered for the Three Lions' 2014 World Cup qualifiers in October.
