Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere welcomes the addition of Germany international Lukas Podolski.

Jack Wilshere believes that Arsenal have signed a "top player" in Lukas Podolski.

The 26-year-old's switch to the Emirates Stadium was confirmed by his current club FC Cologne earlier today.

Having been capped 95 times by Germany, Wilshere has admitted that he cannot wait to play alongside his new teammate.

"Great to hear we have signed Podolski....great signing!," the England international wrote on Twitter. "Top player! To have that many appearances for Germany you have to be half decent!"

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger expressed his delight at the signing earlier today.
