Jack Wilshere "disappointed" by England display

England's Jack Wilshere insists that he and his teammates will learn from Sunday's goalless draw against the Republic of Ireland ahead of next week's Slovenia clash.

Jack Wilshere has admitted that England will need to improve on their abject display against the Republic of Ireland if they are to bounce back with a victory in their next outing.

The Three Lions played out an underwhelming goalless draw at the Aviva Stadium this afternoon, in a friendly that saw limited chances for either side.

Many England players have enjoyed a prolonged spell away from the field in recent weeks following the conclusion of the Premier League campaign, and Wilshere is confident that the performance against Slovenia will improve as a result of today's run-out.

"Overall, we'll be disappointed," the Arsenal midfielder told ITV Sport. "At times we looked like creating something and it broke down. We know we're better than that. Maybe it was to get the cobwebs off after a week off. We'll look where we went wrong.

"It's great to be back and involved in the setup. We don't get much time together so we have to make the most of the times we are together. I know the manager trusts me and we have a great relationship.

"It'll be a different game [against Slovenia]. We do have to be better. We'll learn from this and hopefully we'll get the three points we need."

England currently top the Group E standings in qualifying for Euro 2016, with five wins from five heading into next week's clash against second-place Slovenia.
