Arsene Wenger: 'Jack Wilshere is fit, no FA rift'

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger says that Jack Wilshere is not injured, contrary to recent reports.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has dismissed rumours of a rift with the Football Association.

The Frenchman was said to be furious following reports that Jack Wilshere had picked up a new ankle injury while playing for England in Tuesday's defeat to Germany.

However, the Gunners boss denied that his captain is back on the treatment table, while also stating that Roy Hodgson did "very well" to ensure that the 21-year-old was not overplayed.

"First of all Jack is not injured, that was not the right information," Sky Sports News quotes Wenger as saying. "I have no problem with the Football Association. They respected completely what they told me and it was for Wilshere to play in one game and be on the bench in the other.

"Secondly, I have no problem with the Football Association. They respected completely what they told me and it was for Wilshere to play in one game and be on the bench in the other.

"They did that very well. So there is no misunderstanding there. They did exactly what we had agreed."

The North Londoners welcome Southampton to the Emirates Stadium on Saturday.
