Arsene Wenger insists he will not take any more chances on Jack Wilshere's fitness after the Arsenal midfielder lasted only an hour on his Gunners return against Norwich.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has insisted that he will not gamble on Jack Wilshere's fitness again.

The England midfielder was recalled for Arsenal's 3-1 victory over Norwich City on Saturday following a six-week layoff due to an ankle problem.

Wenger substituted Wilshere after only an hour at the Emirates Stadium and has admitted that it was a mistake to throw the 21-year-old back into action so soon after his return to training.

"I rushed Jack back a bit. He was not completely ready," Wenger said. "Jack has been out for six weeks, so maybe it was a bit too rushed, what I did.

"How careful have I to be? To listen well to the medical advice and that is what I have to do, use him when everything is all right and listen to him as well, how he feels.

"I will get advice from the medical department and how he feels as well and as well use my experience and the fact I know him very well. He practices with me since he was 16, so I know quite well how his body responds to things."

It is unclear whether Wilshere will be considered for selection when Arsenal host top-four rivals Everton in the Premier League on Tuesday evening.
