Arsene Wenger looking forward to return of injured players

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger believes that the return of injured players over the coming weeks will help his side cope with any fixture congestion.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has said that the imminent return of a number of injured players over the next month will help his side with fixture congestion.

January has often proved to be a difficult month for the Gunners in recent years, but they currently sit top of the Premier League table and booked their spot in the fourth round of the FA Cup with a 3-1 victory over Sunderland this afternoon.

With Alexis Sanchez, Tomas Rosicky, Danny Welbeck and Jack Wilshere all expected to return over the next four to five weeks, Wenger is confident that his squad will have the strength in depth to maintain their momentum over the coming months.

"There is a little bit [of fixture congestion], but I believe that the next step is to get Rosicky back, Welbeck back, Sanchez back, Wilshere back and maybe we will get one player in," he told reporters.

"Overall, I think we have no new injuries so I'm not worried. If we had the same number of injuries we would be a bit short."

Sanchez and Rosicky are unlikely to be fit in time to face Liverpool at Anfield on Wednesday but could be back for next Sunday's trip to Stoke City.
