Gianluca Vialli: 'Robin van Persie will be important'

Gianluca Vialli admits that a Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie strike partnership is a "pretty exciting" prospect.

Former Chelsea manager Gianluca Vialli has claimed that Roin van Perise will be "very important" to Manchester United after Arsenal agreed to let the striker to talk to the club.

The Red Devils confirmed that they had reached an agreement with Arsenal on Wednesday and Vialli expects Wayne Rooney to benefit from the signing of the Dutch striker.

Vialli told The Mirror: "It [is] a massive signing. Van Persie and Rooney combining in the same team makes for a pretty exciting striking partnership.

"It will be a very important addition to an already very strong team."

Van Persie is expected to have a medical and discuss personal terms on Thursday.
