Former Arsenal striker Lukas Podolski claims that Serge Gnabry's career at the Emirates was ruined by injuries.

Former Arsenal striker Lukas Podolski has claimed that Serge Gnabry's career at the Emirates could have panned out differently had it not been for bad luck with injuries.

Gnabry spent four years at Arsenal between 2012 and 2016 but only managed one goal in 10 Premier League appearances before being shipped out to Werder Bremen.

However, the 24-year-old has since become a driving force in the Bayern Munich team, registering 11 goals and nine assists in the Bundesliga during the 2019-20 campaign.

Speaking to FourFourTwo, Podolski said: "He was unlucky and had a few injuries. He did well in training.

"Off the pitch we spent a lot of time together, going for dinner. But sometimes football is like that, or you find a manager who gives you more confidence.

"Serge can shoot with both feet, and he is powerful and quick – a bit like me, only I don't have a right foot like him! I'm really pleased that he's doing well at Bayern."

Gnabry's return to North London in October saw him chalk up four goals as Bayern ran out 7-2 winners over Tottenham Hotspur in the Champions League group stage.
