Petr Cech accept blame for Brighton & Hove Albion loss

Arsenal goalkeeper Petr Cech admits that he should have done better to keep out both Brighton & Hove Albion goals after going an 11th match without a clean sheet.

Arsenal goalkeeper Petr Cech has shouldered the blame for his side's 2-1 loss at Brighton & Hove Albion by admitting that he should have prevented both goals.

The 35-year-old, now without a clean sheet in 11 Premier League matches, was subjected to much of the post-match abuse from disgruntled Gunners supporters.

Cech failed to punch the ball clear in the build-up to Lewis Dunk's opener and then allowed a weak Glenn Murray effort to sneak under his body for the second 19 minutes later.

Following a fourth defeat in succession for Arsenal in all competitions, the veteran keeper took to social media to accept responsibility for the latest setback.

"If you want to win a game away of home in the best league in the world your GK can't concede 2 goals like I did today," he posted on his official Twitter page. "It's simply not possible... The team fought back but the damage was done."

Eleven matches without a clean sheet is Arsenal's joint-longest run in the competition's history, last keeping out the opposition on December 16 when Newcastle United visited the Emirates Stadium.
