Arsenal defender Per Mertesacker has insisted that Mesut Ozil will fit in at the club following his £42.5m move from Real Madrid.

The German international became the most expensive signing in the Gunners' history on transfer deadline day as he arrived from the Santiago Bernabeu.

"I think that Arsene Wenger will get the best out of him," Mertesacker is quoted as saying by Goal.com. "I think he will fit in.

"He suits us and we're really looking forward to playing with him and to be his teammate."

Mertesacker and Ozil both featured for Germany in Friday's 3-0 win over Austria in World Cup qualifying.
