Vincent Kompany "understands" that referees have a tough job following his red card against Arsenal this afternoon.

Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany has said that he holds "no grudges" towards referee Mike Dean following his red card at the Emirates Stadium this afternoon.

The Belgian centre-back saw red for a challenge on Jack Wilshere in the 75th minute, despite replays suggesting that he won the ball before making contact with the England international.

Kompany has since tweeted: "First. Massive congrats to our team and fans, great game! Also. No grudges against the referee, I understand the difficulty of the job."

City, who went on to win 2-0, have announced that they will appeal the decision.
