Queens Park Rangers keeper Rob Green: Chelsea sold Petr Cech "out of respect"

Queens Park Rangers keeper Rob Green says that Chelsea only sold Petr Cech "out of respect", and that the Czech international is now showing his quality for the Gunners.

Queens Park Rangers goalkeeper Rob Green has suggested that Chelsea's decision to sell Petr Cech to Arsenal was made due to the status formerly held by the Czech international at Stamford Bridge.

Cech's display, which he felt helped the Gunners to victory over Bayern Munich on Tuesday, came in for praise from his QPR counterpart.

"Cech had a difficult debut, but after that he has shown what a quality goalkeeper he really is. They were all fantastic saves [against Munich], he just shows what a difference a good goalkeeper can make," Green told Sky Sports News.

"Chelsea were in a difficult position obviously with the form of Thibaut Courtois, the potential longevity of his career being there. They made that decision.

"It's more out of respect for Petr Cech and what he has done for Chelsea that they decided to let him go. He is proving his worth for Arsenal."

Arsene Wenger's side are still bottom of Group F following the victory, but now lie only three points behind the German champions who lead the group.
