Ivan Gazidis: 'Arsene Wenger will sign new deal'

Arsenal chief executive Ivan Gazidis reveals that manager Arsene Wenger is close to signing a new contract with the club.

Arsenal chief executive Ivan Gazidis has revealed that manager Arsene Wenger will sign a new contract with the club.

The Frenchman's current deal at the Emirates Stadium is due to expire at the end of the season.

However, Gazidis has played down speculation regarding Wenger's future by claiming that he will extend his terms in North London.

"Arsene will be extending [his contract] with us and at right time we will make that announcement," BBC Sport quotes him as saying.

Wenger has won seven major honours with Arsenal since joining the club in 1997.
