The Welsh Football Association will allow their players to represent Team GB at this summer's London Olympics.
The participation of non-English stars such as Gareth Bale and Aaron Ramsey had been in doubt as the Welsh, Scottish and Northern Irish FAs had feared that a united British team may threaten their independent statuses with FIFA.
However an FA of Wales spokesman has insisted that, although they are still not supportive of Team GB, Welsh players are free to take part.
He told The Mirror: "There won't be any sanction or action taken against them. They won't find that it prejudices their involvement with Wales in the future.
"As an organisation, we have made our position clear in the past and it has not changed.
"But if someone is asked and chooses to play, that is their personal choice."
Swansea City left-back Neil Taylor is also a strong contender to be be called up for the July event.
