Half-Time Report: David Silva gives Manchester City the lead against Arsenal

David Silva scores to give Manchester City a 1-0 lead over Arsenal in their Premier League match at the Emirates Stadium.

A goal from David Silva has given Manchester City a 1-0 lead over Arsenal at the halfway stage of their Premier League match this evening.

The home side felt that they should have had a penalty in the early stages when Thomas Rosicky went down in the box under a challenge from Pablo Zabaleta, but the referee waved play on.

In the 18th minute City took the lead through Silva, who poked home from close range after Edin Dzeko had fired a strike against the post.

Samir Nasri came close on the half-hour mark as he stole the ball just outside the box, before drilling in a low effort that was gathered by Wojciech Szczesny.

City dominated the half but could not find a second goal, as they went into the break ahead.
